Bookmarks - Save Time Coding With LB Workshop!
If you haven't tried LB Workshop yet, you are missing out a major time saver when it comes to writing programs. Maybe you're not like me and time for writing a program is not an issue with you. But I really think most of us want to make the most of our time at the computer. Alyce has brilliantly given us a tool in LB Workshop that went unnoticed and unused by me for too long. It's the ability to place a little yellow bookmark at the left of any line of code you want to mark. If any of you are old like I am, you may not have the ability to remember what name you assigned to a certain variable. Well before you go looking throughout your 4000, or 8000 lines of code, set a bookmark on that line of code, then search with the exceptional "Find" feature in LB Workshop, or pull down the list of branch labels in the easy to find combo box at the top of the editor and locate your variable name you are looking for. After you find the variable name you can easily jump right back to the line you bookmarked by clicking on either the up or down bookmark buttons at the top of the left hand column. If you want to clear all your bookmarks and start all over, there is a button for that also. It's a wonderful time-saver!
I don't guess it would be fair for me to take up all the space in the newsletter to tell you about all the features that are available in LB Workshop so I'll just mention a few. You can open multiple files in LB Workshop. You're not limited to working on just one .bas file at a time. There is fully customizable syntax coloring available to the user. You can have line numbers or indentation guides if you want them. There is an auto-indent feature if you want to use it. A recent files menu lets you go right back to what you were working on last. You can run, tokenize, and debug your .bas files from LB Workshop. And….much, much more!
Alyce has given us a tool that you can almost put on auto-pilot and it will write a program for you! If you haven't tried it yet, then download the evaluation version now at
[http://alycesrestaurant.com/workshop.htm] . You get 15 uses, with no time limit, to give it a test run before you have to register. If you're writing programs with Liberty Basic, LB Workshop is a MUST HAVE! It's well worth your time and money!
